That yellow flower is waving to me! Don't know what it is, as don't usually like yellow ones, so don't learn about them. Educate me!

It's a rudbeckia. I don't usually do yellow, but I do like rudbeckias. In particular the 4' - 6' tall herbstsonne, a perennial.

But this is not a gardening thread. Can't it go back on the front page so I can see the pretty pics without logging in?

Kath, I think Piggin said that the garden chat would be private for a trial period - if it works out it will then be made into a separate board which anyone can access without logging in (that's the way I understood it, anyway, & I hope I'm right - I hate sub-boards!).

It certainly is. I have tons of the stuff and am frantically cutting it back, but I think I will keep this one as it is. It makes very good mangetout supports and lovely bright red chippings when I shred it. Cyclamen hederifolium

That's the plan Juliet. I will however move this back to the open board for Kath's benefit as I understand that she can't log in at work and we all need a bit of colour to cheer us up!

Not very accommodating are they, butterflies. I spent half an hour charging round the gardens at St Fagans last year trying to photograph one who just as I was on it, took off again. I didn't get a photo in the end.

Swallowtail butterfly. A few breed in my garden on fennel and wild carrot. Some advantages of having a semi wild garden!

These photos are wonderful. Had a digital camera for Christmas, but haven't seen anything inspiring yet! Thanks for your offer of seeds everyone - sorry haven't been on this thread much this week so missed littleann's kind offer of Welsh Poppies - thank you & will PM my address! Kath - love the Meconopsis - I've got 3 which I planted when I moved in last March - had overwintered them in pots after I bought them the year before that. One flowered last year & they have all died down - just praying they will pop up again this year with those beautiful blue flowers. Yes, sure you all realise by now, I'm rather partial to poppies! Mommyxxx

Muscari for mommydoos, and one of hiltop's tulips that has escaped My strange camellia sport (the bisexual camellia from the planet Zarg that went to Juliet's birthday party) And a nice fritillary that I moved and am hoping is still alive somewhere.
