Hawkmoth on buddleia. I love that kalmia, PA. I want one! But don't they need acid soil?

Jro, does that azalea Mme Masson look like this when you see the whole bush? I've been trying to identify this one but all the ones I've seen have been a bit p**k.

I like kalmias too, Pa. No, kath. Mine looks very white even from a distance. I've hacked it back and moved it, so I'm hoping it's ok this year. It has lots of new shoots, so I think so. rosa Arthur Bell

I love the colour of that monarda, TC, if you know which one it is do tell me. Jro, now you've reminded me about that azalea I'm like a dog with a bone. I've enlarged it a bit so I can see it better: and I'm wondering if it's this one, daviesii, what do you think? www.banwnursery.co.uk/images/A.%20davisii.JPGThen I can mull over whether white would better anyway....

I think you're right, kath. I've removed this lot. They gave me a headache.

You're following my train of thought here Jro. I let OH choose a new azalea last year & he picked the bright orange one, I think it's called flaming embers. It's ok as long as I have to go to see it, not have it in front of the windows, but I'm also looking for something calming to go with it.

Hi Kath, it's my favourite monarda, Cambridge Scarlet

That was the problem, they had been planted right in front of my kitchen window. It was awful. There's an even brighter deciduous azalea in my front garden, but its roots are entangled with the garrya's so there's nothing I can do.

Nothing you can do if you want to keep the garrya..

I can see exactly where NOT to come for sympathy! Horrendous, isn't it! Particularly since it flowered so late that I had already planted up the rest ofthe border in nice pastels. I may just have to go for the 'pick each branch as it flowers' option, and put it in a vase.

daughter has a small garden and as she trained in design (not garden) she had a fair idea of her colour scheme unfortunately her partner went and bought two roses one is pink and named after me and the other is orange and named after his mother, andy hoped they would die but of course they didn't and she didn't want to dig them up and upset him because he is so thrilled when they flower so i suggested she cut them for the house as soon as they came into bud shes happy because they dont spoil her colour scheme and he likes them in the house (is this a ramble )

I think it is a ramble littleann but so what. The whole point of this board is it doesn't matter if we go off topic. Ramble away, anywhere you like.
I assume when she's cut them for the house they go in different rooms? ;D

I'm hoping my monarda will be good this year. It's still in a pot after being rescued from the couch grass/flowerbed. Not sure where to replant it.
