Do we have to have this bit at the bottom of each page?
''Related Topics and Stories''

It is a bit pointless isn't it

I think that we would have to pay for ad free in order to remove the Related Topics box.

Yes, it's the other reason for the pro boards and every other website's changes - to accommodate more advertising. It keeps the boards free to users at the price of having their brains lightly irritated.

I wasn't getting on all that well with the 'new' board. Very slow and took ages to reply so didn't bother. I was using Internet Explorer browser but moved over to Google Chrome and it working well. I now use both browsers for different things.

Due to the automatic conversion of so many forums on Proboards I think the servers were a bit stretched as everyone tried to create Global Accounts and fix their forums. I am hopeful that response times will improve once it is more stable. <evertheoptimistsmiley>

It did cross my mind, that the server was a bit stretched as the service was so variable.

I have met the angry bear a few times this week. I hadn't seen him for ages. I use Chrome for most sites now, apart from the BBC iPlayer, which appears to work better in IE for some reason.

Have you never met him? He rampages around the Proboards servers causing mayhem.

I haven't had angry bear, you seem to get him more often than I do but as soon as you mention him he starts to appear!

I had problems connecting earlier but now ok. I have noticed that since we have gone 'global' that there is a lot of 'guests'. The other night there was 157. Maybe some more of the threads should be private. ?

Would a reminder to every one not to post personal thingies in the Club House, only in the members thingy be enough?

Most of the "guests" are spy bots. They just pick up the odd word and match the ads to suit what we are talking about.
Those of us who are not permanently logged in will show up as guests too until they actually log in.

Like me, I use 'inprivate' so have to log on each time. So I am a guest twice every time I come on and go off again.

You should be able to see the extra smilies more easily now. I've had a little twiddle (technical term)

I just checked the IP addresses of the 6 guests who were on here a few minutes ago and 4 of them appeared to be spy bots from the USA.

Bots are automated software programmes (most are used by search engines like Google, etc) to scan websites for keywords either in site descriptions or forum content and then they use this information to target advertising, or take references from them to retrieve when you do an internet 'search'.

MMMMMM the number of times I've searched for something, and ended up clicking on a link to a forum that was not what I wanted but may have contained the words in my search.

Am I imagining things or are the pages much shorter now than before? There's 20 posts to a page now, wasn't there 50 before.
I'm not sure it matters much anyway, except pictures are more likely to be missed, or you have to go back 3 pages to find them.

I did alter it to 30, it was set at 25 and that seemed too short. i though things didn't seem right, they have changed again. I agree, i have missed whole pages and got a bit confused!
