The end was a bit Whoa though. I enjoyed it. There was a convent in Glasgow near the dance hall I went and a while ago some of the nuns were prosecuted for cruelty in the sixties. Imagine there was girls being beaten and abused within an inch of their lives while I was dancing the night away. Very sad.

Yes, horrible. All those nuns managing to convince themselves that they were beating you for your own good. There are still lots of people who believe that if something bad happens to you then it must be a punishment for a past sin, in this life or a previous one, and therefore you should be punished and not helped.

Oh I've been onto Gordon for ages. ::)Did you not see him on Springwatch, Cherry, when he did his thing about the fox family in Glasgow? ;D He has names for the fox families - like the chip shop fox family, because they lived near the chip shop. ;D Sweetpea says she rather fancies the parrot, too...but I have refused to get her one.

Now last night I saw a bit of that Gastro-economy rubbish on the box. Is is me or does nothing they cook ever remotely slip into the bracket of a family on a low income? I was misled by the title thinking that they were going to try and show people how to cook on a budget. I have to say from the few bits I seen of this programme it's utter rubbish, the food is neither cheap or appealing.

The Nigel Slater programme was good, he knocked up a few nice meals with what was hanging around in his fridge and veggies he picked from his garden. Lxx

That Gordon is rather nice, I have to say. Yes, the Nigel Slater programme basically did what I always do, which I knew he would as friends had told me about his style of cooking. I made DBH watch him last night as he always goes out and buys expensive out-of-season veg and stuff when he cooks on Saturdays, rather than use what we have in the garden, and it drives me mad. Robert and I often have a big plate of stir-fried veg on pasta or rice or whatever in the evening, while DBH sits there with a hunk of cheese and a pork pie. He coks lovelymeals, but the veg content can be minimal, so I am hoping that Nigel Slater's ideas rub off on him a bit, rather than Gordon Ramsey's or James Martin's, which seem to be a large piece of meat or fish plonked on top of a weeny bit of veg.
