This is the newest story. Criticism etc is most welcome. Whole book needs a snappy title too.

Yes, quite a surprise, I wonder how the wall was built around them, do we get to find out or does it remain a mystery.

This bit needs adding in Chapter Four, jst before they leave the Ban people's home
Billy thought for a few moments. "So, you weren’t born No.1 then?" Pa shook his head. "No, I was actually 403." He sighed, "That was along time ago. I am just the latest in a long line of No.1's"
"So," went on Billy. That means that a lot of Bean people must have been killed for you to get to No.1."
"Most of them died of old age rather than being eaten," said Pa. "We are a very careful set of beings and while there are a lot of dangerous things in the Clough we can avoid them most of the time."
"That makes you the oldest Bean person then," mused Billy.
"It certainly does," laughed Pa. "And there are times when I feel it too. Now we had better get moving while the way is clear."

Early the next morning, Billy took his box and went down the alley. The string was still tied to the lamppost. He used his bike as a ladder and carefully hoisted the box up on to the top of the wall.
I think that should read bike, as he had already lowered the box into the Clough the day before.

Need a much better headline for the report in the paper. Not my area of expertise.

Also still need a title for the whole story. Shades of grey is a bit derivative.

Billy, the beans and a dog. Billy Bean was a children's BBC programme from long before ITV existed. Billy Bean built a machine to see what it would do. He built it out of sticks and stones and lots of string and glue.

I didn't see that, maybe it was before we had telly in 1958. Sounds fun!

We didn't have our first telly until 1958 either. It came on my 6th birthday, so I thought it was mine!

The things you learn, there is a real place called Greyton in South Africa! What about the accidental find or Greytons secrets? It was an enjoyable read.

"Over the Wall" was one suggestion, but there is a film of that name(cartoon). How about "The Lost Triangle"?

Finally read the PDF nice to get everything in order, really enjoyed it Pal. Not over sweet, but so many phrases that bring back memories. Did not read sooner having it seems spent at least 2 or 3 hours asleep each afternoon!
