I am aware that a number of members have been having problems logging in.
To all those experiencing difficulties, please try the following:
Problem: I login fine, but when I click a link it logs me out!
Your browser is not accepting cookies properly. First check to make sure you have cookies enabled. Also, in Internet Explorer 6 you need to make sure that you have 3rd Party Cookies enabled.
You need to do the following:
Click on tools on the menubar on your browser Click on Internet Options on the drop menu On the window that pops up, click on the privacy tab Put the arrow and track so that the arrow is on low Click ok
This will enable third party cookies:
Click on tools on the menubar on your browser Click on Internet Options on the drop menu On the window that pops up, click on the security tab Click on the custom button On the little window that pops up, scroll down to where it says cookies, and make sure the radio button is in the enabled position Click save
In Firefox:
tools >> options >> privacy >>
look for the 'cookies' section. Make sure it has 'accept all' ticked, and then click on 'exceptions' and make sure your proboard url isn't in there.

Do you think perhaps we could have this thread on the public page? Only if not, how will those who are unable to log in be able to read it?

Hi JRo
This page is public you can see it without logging in. I've emailed all the folks experiencing problems too so hopefully this should do the trick.

Another tip for those experiencing problems.
Please check that your date and time are correct on your computer.

Last night I couldn't get on the board at all on my laptop at home although I had been on it in the afternoon (wasting some time before I had to go to the DRs). Last night it kept telling me I wasn't connected to the internet although I had no probs getting on the BEEB boards!
No probs this morning on my work laptop!
It must have been a glitch last night with my laptop but it was strange that I could get on some sites and not others!

Hi Bulleydog
I think the answer is, if you are having log in problems on any computer, to follow the steps on this thread, It seems to have worked for everyone who was having difficulties.
I suspect a lot of it is to do with Internet Explorer 7, I still use IE6 at work as it is much easier, and Firefox at home and have never experienced any problems.

You're getting far too technical for me now!
I'll have to have a "play" later and see what I can do!

It's nothing to do with settings to stop children surfing the net, is it? Only when I am abandoned in DBH's classroom somtimes on a Sat. morning I can get on to the beeb board but not onto TAPS or any blogs. Nor can I shop on the Internet, but all the computers at the school have slightly varying settings, so that DBH can do all those things in the staffroom.
I was thinking of mommydoos really, they might have restricted the access because of children.

You could well be right JRo. If these solutions haven't worked then it may be worth investigating that possibility.

YEH!!! I did it, I'm on my laptop at home and not had to do anything with cookies!
Maybe it was just having a paddy last night (or somebody from the BEEB sent a gremlin to my computer)!

A big thank you to Piggin, Princess Anawhatsit, Lottie and everyone else (sorry if I have forgotten names) who tried to think of ways to sort out what was wrong with my computer (my date was wrong - I have the same problem with the human sort of dates too). Now I am safely back in the fold and just warming my frozen paws. ;D

Yes Aspi do come and say hello to Stilt's and I, we miss chatting to you. The beeb is just a bit hostile at the moment for us and with our post's being pre-modded we can't actually join in the conversations on the potting shed thread ....

Thanks for saying hello, Rach and Juliet. All your smiley things do make me laugh, Rach. ;D One day, when I'm grown up, I must tackle photobucket and avatars and stuff Actually I'm feeling a bit bored with the Beeb board at the moment, I'm just in a lurking around mood at the moment.

Just in case anyone's upgraded to Vista & is having difficulty finding Internet Options and cookie settings:
Start menu – control panel Type ‘cookies’ into the search (top right) Use the quick links under internet options

Not a logging in problem but I am often getting a message saying there are too many connections to the server when I am trying to reply to a message? Any idea what this means? If its me?
Thanks HSL x

You weren't the only one, Sunny - several people had problems, and it kept kicking me off.
You should be ok now.

Thank goodness for that Jro <whewsmiley>, I was really worried that a) I had been unceremoniously kicked off TAPS for being a misery guts or b) I had broken my laptop. I don't know which would be worst

I'm having problems ... came on this afternoon and suddenly got a message to say unable to connect to the internet ... the messages came one on top of the other ... faster than I could hit the crosses, dozens as though they were duplicating the duplications etc!!! .... so I shut down my laptop. If I am not around for a while it is due to my gremlins behaving badly!!!!
