I feel sorry for Mr A's daughter. Here fairly recent husband can be a bit of a bah humbug. They are in the USA and normally they would visit his family but because of the snow they couldn’t go there. But had already emptied out their fridge etc, so no food in the house, the boiler broke and her husband is sulking because he can't have his usual Xmas. Poor Jenni is missing her UK family, it’s their first Christmas together married and I thought it would be romantic for them being just the two of them but he has shut down.

Very quiet. First time in many many years I did not get to go for a walk after lunch. Family tradition, but my hamstring went 'ping' when I tried. Did collect up some leaves from the garden just for something to do outside. Too much rich food too. Also got a bit of a labyrinthitus type dizziness going on. Bit hard to take tablets and have a glass of vino though. Family coming tomorrow.

Christmas lunch was good, Mum got a bit fretful later on, but when she needed to go to the toilet straight after that I led her to the car & we went for a bit of a drive, stopping at all the good vantage points to look at the sea & she calmed down & then I took her back to the care home & it was just about dinner time so we made a segway into that ( I said a small salad at best ). Today Boxing Day & I spent here at bend along by myself. Early morning Facetiem to Netherlands where they were scoffing down a fondue, then I went for a walk when just light - super low tide so really interesting walks in places where there is usually deep sea water, discovering all sorts of things like sponges, anemones ( of the animal type), feather dusters ( of the animal type) cockles, crabs scuttling under rocks etc, good fun and better than the evening low tide because only one up Then morning doing stuff at house, then afternoon swim & floating over waves, water so warm ....... sorry - but I've had to wait nearly three months for this!!!!

Seemed strange being just the two of us, but a 3 way Skype with the boys after church, and the rest of the day to our selves. The roast lamb was good.

Well done Peony, you got through it! Mags that description of looking at all the things on the beach, just what I love to do. Enjoy your swims, it's such a wonderful, healing feeling I find. We will perhaps go to the beach tomorrow. We haven’t been down there much yet, it is about a 20 minute drive. It is a often too choppy in the winter for a swim but I fancy having a good paddle.
