Might be too big? Try putting it in & then in the box marked avatar width type 100 & in the box marked avatar height type 100, then save changes & see if that works.

Can I ask a boring non-Taps computer question, purrlease? I have Norton anti-virus on my computer and when I updated it last year, it made it sooooooo slow when I turn it on, it takes forever to get going. Now I have to update it again and I am worried it will get even slower. Anyone come across this problemo before and know wot to do be do?

We had it. We no longer have it. It was a pain in the butt, we have just about everything else instead but I haven't a clue what. So this is just a sympathy post really, no help whatsoever.
We have mozilla, AVG and spybot for starters. Plus half a dozen other things, none of which make it as slow as Norton did, unless you happen to want to use the computer at the same time as they are scanning, so we have set ours to scan at 1am, which I had completely forgotten until last week when I had a sleepless night and fancied getting on the computer and couldn't.

I know microsoft is supposed to be bringing out some free software this year which is meant to do everything but I think I'll have to suffer Norton until then. The only alternative is to get someone out to do something about it but is costs such a lot as soon as anyone looks at the computer.

Aspi these are better than Norton and they are free - uninstall Norton 1st though if you are going to have them. www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.htmlIt all automatically updates and I have never had a problem with it you run this one at least once a week to get rid of things that have attached themselves to your PC - but remember to save the cookies that you use all the time - like TAPS ;D www.ccleaner.com/Lx

Why not try AVG Free? It's what I use at home and I have never had any problems. What's more it's free! free.avg.com/

Thanks girls, I've heard of AVG but I have to admit, I don't know how to un-install Norton... Isn't it quite difficult to un-install anti-virus software? Hmm, maybe I should deal with this some time when I am not so reliant on my pc... I'm scared of messing up and I read at the weekend that microsoft has a really bad virus going around, so I don't want to end up unprotected. Eek.

No it's easy Aspi go to control panel then add/ remove software then select norton and you will get an option to uninstall - it is easy to do honestly. You should be protected from any new viruses if you get automated updates from Microsoft too- they usually issue a patch as soon as they know there is a new virus about. Lxx

Oh dear. I reeeellly reeeelly was considering doing something about the Norton and now I have discovered that I am on a direct debit which I forgot about and they have renewed my subscription already and taken the dosh...right, really must make a mental note, which of course I will forget, to do something about it before next year comes around.... ;D

A question about i-player, please.
I watched the first Sissinghurst programme earlier on i-player (first time I'd tried that ;D). Now I want to watch the second one, but the computer is doing the thing where it does a circle on the screen and stops every few seconds before it carries on showing it. Is this something to do with my download speed? I'm just wondering whether the speed was faster this afternoon and slower now or something? I find the same thing sometimes with news items on the beeb - some come over fine, and with others, I could wait for ever while the circle thing goes round. ::)Anyone?

Could be your internet connection; Do you have an icon of a pc on the bottom right hand side of your screen; mine goes from blac to white if the connection is not good; a bubble usually appears and says ' the connection is excellant' good or poor' When it is poor the circle appears + goes round and round; Can't help more than that;

Thanks Amazing - it turned out that I had to use the pop-out thingy. I have no idea what that is, but it worked then. Just watched the second programme, I find it very interesting, have burbled on about it on the beeb. ;D

Thanks Lottie, I've managed it, woohoo, but now can't add a pic to the body of a post, even though I've found the little button above here that says 'insert image'. Quite enjoying having-a-go, but spending way too much time. Really ought to find the 'OFF' button.
